FAQ

Quick answers about the daily drive.

How do I play?

Press Start driving. At each of the six stops, type anything that fits the sign before your 30 seconds of gas run out. Rare answers drive you farther than common ones.

When does the new route come out?

At midnight where you are. The page counts down to it after you finish.

Do wrong guesses cost anything?

No. Guess as many times as you like. A guess that isn’t on the list just says “not on the map”, and you keep your gas.

Do I have to spell it perfectly?

No. Small typos, missing apostrophes, plurals and last names on their own (like “Jeter”) all count. If you are one letter off, the game tells you you are close.

My answer was right but it wasn’t accepted.

Every stop has a long list of answers, but some still slip through. Missed guesses help us find them, and you can tell us directly on the Contact page.

What do the road signs mean?
  • Backseat+10 miles
  • Shotgun+25 miles
  • Behind the Wheel+50 miles
  • Road Warrior+75 miles
  • Trailblazer+100 miles
How is my trip rated?

By total miles out of 600: Backseat under 90, Shotgun from 90, Behind the Wheel from 180, Road Warrior from 300 and Trailblazer from 420.

Can I play more than once a day?

No, one trip a day, and everyone gets the same route. That is what makes comparing with friends fun. You can see the best answers after you finish, hidden behind a button so nobody gets spoiled.

How do streaks work?

Finish a trip on back to back days to grow your streak. Miss a day and it starts over.

Do I need an account?

No. Your trips and streak are saved in your browser. Make a free account with the person button at the top right. Sign in with Google, and your streak follows you to any device.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. On iPhone, tap Share and then Add to Home Screen to keep it one tap away. On Android, use the browser menu and Add to Home screen.

Is it free?

Yes. Roadtrip is paid for by a few ads, which only appear below the game, never on the road while you are answering.

Can I suggest a question?

Please do, on the Contact page. The best stops have a few answers everyone knows and some that almost nobody thinks of.
